UFC on ABC 2 tournament bout

On Saturday night, April 10, the penultimate UFC Apex tournament will take place at the mini-arena in Las Vegas (USA) before the promotion returns viewers to the stands. This coming weekend, MMA fans can expect a relatively modest UFC on ABC 2 (UFC Vegas 23) tournament, in the main event of which we will see an intriguing fight between strong middleweights.

The show’s third biggest bout will also see the middle division pitted against each other: the highly experienced Sam Alvey and Julian Marquez, who has only a handful of UFC cage appearances in his career.

Elvy initially saw Zach Cummings as his opponent in this tournament, but for some reason he dropped out and was replaced by the Cuban Missile Crisis. Since 2018, Alvey has competed in the light heavyweight division, and this will be his comeback to the middle division. The veteran is on the verge of being eliminated from the promotion, as he cannot win in five fights now. After four losses in a row in October at UFC 254, Elvy tied the fight against Jung Da Woon.

Marquez joined the UFC in 2017, but due to a severe injury, he only had three fights in the octagon with an overall record of 2-1. In July 2018, he lost a split decision to Alessio Di Chirico, in which Marquez tore his latissimus dorsi muscle, which led to two operations and returned to the cage only in February at UFC 258, where Julián choked out Maki Pitolo in the 3rd round.

Prediction for the fight

Elvy is a basic wrestler who eventually turned into a striker with excellent knockout ability. Marquez, on the other hand, is a puncher who won two of his UFC victories by submission.

Marquez recently revealed that a long downtime didn’t “kill” him as a solid fighter, but Elvy is definitely going down in terms of fighting. Alvey’s jaw began to fail, and Marquez has powerful punches and kicks. Julian has not yet won on points, we believe that this will not happen now. Marquez is capable of destroying a once-good middleweight in the standing position.

Marquez wins by knockout in the 2nd round

Sam Elvey vs Julian Marquez will take place on Saturday, April 10th. Estimated start of the battle at 23:00 Kiev time.
