UFC on ESPN 36 co-main event

The fight will take place on May 15 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex complex and will become a co-main event of the UFC on ESPN 36 tournament. The estimated start of the fight is 07:00 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.

In the light heavyweight division, 13th ranked Ryan Spann (19-7) will take on Ion Cutelaba (16-6-1, 1 NC).

Spann has lost two of his last three fights. In September 2020, he was knocked out in the first round by Johnny Walker, a year later, Spann was also finished in the first round by submission by Anthony Smith. And between these defeats in March 2021, Ryan knocked out Misha Tsirkunov in less than a minute and a half.

Kutselaba got back on track last September with a unanimous decision win over Devin Clark. Prior to this, the Moldovan athlete did not win in three fights in a row, losing twice to Magomed Ankalaev and drawing a fight against Dustin Jacoby.

Prediction for the fight

Spann, although noticeably larger than his opponent in size, is unlikely to look better in the stance. Cutelaba has every chance to dominate on the feet.

Kutselaba has always been known for his aggression and punching power, but his last fight showed that he can act intelligently. Spann, obviously, is more profitable on the ground, the American is dangerous on the ground and won by submission 11 of 19 times. However, Kutselaba also knows something on the ground and is also good at takedown defense.

Considering that Spann’s chin is not the most reliable, Kutselaba can record another KO/TKO victory in his asset.

Kutselaba wins by knockout in the 1st round
