Rumor: Bellator MMA will hold the last tournament in September

Bellator 299, which takes place on September 23 in Dublin, could be the last event in the history of the organization.

Informed sources say that the owner of Bellator MMA, the American media conglomerate Viacom, is close to an agreement with the PFL league, which is ready to buy this asset.

It is not yet known if this will be a co-promotion with the purchase of part of the organization, or if the PFL will completely absorb Bellator MMA. In any case, the tournament in Ireland will be the last in its current form for the organization.

A month earlier, Bellator President Scott Cocker confirmed that Viacom was in talks with the PFL.

“Bellator is looking for a partner,” the league chief said. “Probably we will have some certainty in the next 60-90 days. The PFL is indeed involved in the negotiations. Viacom is in talks with PFL and a couple of other companies right now, so let’s wait and see what happens.”

Recall that the main event of the Bellator 299 tournament will be a middleweight title fight between American Johnny Eblin and Briton Fabian Edwards.
