UFC 262 tournament bout
On the night of Saturday to Sunday, May 16, the UFC will hold a big tournament with 17,000 fans at the Toyota Center arena in Houston (Texas, USA). The fight between Ronaldo Souza and Andre Muniz will start at 04:30 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
In the main prelim bout, fans will witness a Brazilian middleweight derby between the big name Ronaldo Souza and the lesser known Andre Muniz.
41-year-old Souza (26-9 1 NC) is long past his peak. The veteran has lost five of his last seven fights and is on a three-game losing streak. After losing on points to Jack Hermansson and Jan Blachowicz in his only light heavyweight fight of his career, Jacare was knocked out by Kevin Holland in December at UFC 256, who managed to shock his opponent while lying on the floor.
Muniz (20-4) entered the UFC after winning Season 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series in August 2019, but has only entered the Octagon twice since then, defeating Antonio Arroyo via decision in November 2019 and winning by armbar in 1st round against Bartosz Fabinsky in September 2020.
Prediction for the fight
Souza and Muniz are the basic jitsers. But “Jacare” has incomparably better BJJ skills and is a real puncher, which cannot be said about Muniz.
Souza is unlikely to allow the opponent to use his main weapon – BJJ. Moreover, he himself may well be successful on the ground. And in the stand, Souza will have an advantage due to his “gun”. Considering that all 4 defeats of Muniz were knocked out, Souza can close the black streak with another “KO” entry in his list of victories.
