Rollie Romero to return for WBA title: Details


Former “interim” WBA lightweight champion American Rolly Romero (14-1, 12 KOs) will challenge the full title of the same organization in his debut fight in the light welterweight (up to 63.5 kg).

As became known
boxing scene, in April, Romero will enter the ring against the current title holder Alberto Puello (21-0, 10 KOs) from the Dominican Republic. The exact date of the fight, as well as the place of its holding, are not yet known. It is assumed that the broadcast will take place on Showtime.

Recall that for Rolando this will be not only a debut fight at 63.5 kg, but also the first entry into the ring since he was unable to win the WBA World title in a duel against compatriot Gervonta Davis – in May last year, Rolly went to heavy knockout at the equator of confrontation.

In turn, Puello will make the first defense of the title he won in August, defeating Botirjon Akhmedov on points by a split decision.
