Robbie Lawler to retire at UFC 290

Former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, who will face Nico Price at UFC 290 on July 8 at UFC 290 in Las Vegas, will leave his gloves in the middle of the octagon, regardless of the outcome of this fight.

This was announced by the President of the UFC, Dana White.

“Robbie Lawler will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Famer with Rory MacDonald on July 7th and will face Nico Price on July 8th. Robbie, a former UFC and Strikeforce champion, never showed boring fights. I found Robbie Lawler when he was 19 years old, and at UFC 290 he will have the final fight of his amazing 22-year career, ”said the head of the organization.

Robbie Lawler won the UFC title in December 2014 with a split decision win over Johny Hendrix and made two successful defenses of his title before losing it to Tyron Woodley in July 2016, to whom he lost by knockout in the first round.

After that, the 41-year-old American spent seven more fights in the UFC, scoring two victories and suffering five defeats.
