UFC on ESPN 31 main event
The fight will take place on December 5 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex complex and will become the main event of the UFC on ESPN 31 tournament (or UFC Vegas 44). Estimated start of the battle – 07:30 Kiev time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
The first-ever UFC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo (30-7), will make his fifth fight in the bantamweight division in a five-round bout with Rob Font (19-4).
Victories in the last two fights brought Aldo to 5th place in the UFC rankings. After failing to become the UFC bantamweight champion in July 2020 by being stopped by Petr Yan in the 5th round, Junior won a unanimous decision against Marlon Vera in December, and in August he passed with the same outcome. Pedro Munoz.
#4 Font is on a four win streak. In May 2021, Font pretty confidently won a 25-minute duel against former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt. Prior to that, Font defeated Marlon Moraes, Ricky Simon and current Bellator bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis.
Prediction for the fight
Both fighters are excellent strikers with good ground skills. But Aldu’s career has been on the decline for a long time, and Font is fresher and more resilient, and due to his power, he can look more preferable in the stand. On the ground, there will probably be an advantage for Aldo, but it is unlikely that the fighters will spend much time on the ground.
But still, the veteran has certain trump cards up his sleeve. Experience, technique and footwork can be the keys to victory for Aldu. The ex-UFC champion is unlikely to have an easy fight, but due to the class and competent distribution of forces, he can win a third victory in a row.
