Rafael Fiziev commented on the defeat of Mateusz Gamrot

No. 6 ranked UFC lightweight Rafael Fisiev, who suffered an early defeat to Mateusz Gamrot due to a knee injury, gave his first comments after the fight that headlined UFC Fight Night 228 in Las Vegas.

“Costs of the profession,” Fisiev wrote on social media, posting a video from the hospital.

“Everyone is here. What a job! Best job in the world, guys,” Ataman said, addressing event attendees lying on gurneys nearby.

Recall that the fight between the top lightweights was stopped at the 2:03 mark of the second round after Fiziev, punctuated by a right kick to the body, grabbed his left knee and collapsed to the canvas, while Gamrott, despite his opponent’s obvious injury, rushed to finish him, forcing referee Herb Dean to intervene in the situation. According to the judges’ notes, the Azerbaijani fighter won the first round by unanimous decision before being injured.

Defeated by technical knockout, Rafael Fiziev was unable to get his career back on track after losing his bout against Justin Gaethje, while Mateusz Gamroth, ranked seventh in the division, picked up his second straight win after a disappointing outing against Benil Dariush.
