UFC on ESPN 39 tournament bout
The fight will take place on July 10 in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) at the UFC Apex complex and will become the main event of the UFC on ESPN 39 (or UFC Vegas 58) tournament. Estimated start of the battle – 06:00 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast live on Setanta Sports.
No. 7 UFC lightweight Rafael dos Anjos (31-13) will fight No. 10 Rafael Fiziev (11-1), with whom RDA was supposed to fight in March at UFC 272, but just a week before the fight, Fiziev had to refuse to participate in the tournament due to a positive test for COVID-19.
Fiziev was replaced by Renato Moicano on 4 days’ notice, and Dos Anjos beat him comfortably on points in a 5-round bout. And dos Anjos fought his previous fight back in November 2020, winning by a split decision in five rounds against Paul Felder, who replaced Islam Makhachev on 5-day notice.
Fiziev is on a five-fight streak, last year he scored a points victory over Bobby Green and a spectacular roundhouse kick knockout in the 3rd round of the December fight against Brad Riddell.
Prediction for the fight
Young and hungry Fiziev looks like a big favorite in this pair. Dos Anjos is badly battered by years and injuries. The Brazilian is a good drummer, but in this component he definitely cannot compete with Fiziev. RDA’s jitter skills are much better, but will Fiziev let him use them? We believe that absolutely not.
Fiziev has to smash the former UFC lightweight champion in the standing position. But can he finish dos Anjos? It is possible, but it will be extremely difficult to do this, so we believe that the fight will go through all five rounds.
