28-year-old Moldavian heavyweight Sergiu Spivak, who defeated former UFC heavyweight title contender Derrick Lewis in the first round last weekend, moved up four places in the organization’s official rankings to eighth in the division’s top ten.
The American fighter, who had occupied the seventh position before the defeat from the Polar Bear, dropped to the tenth line, freeing up his place for Alexander Volkov.
Recall that the heavyweight fight between Spivak and Lewis, who headlined the UFC Fight Night 218 tournament in Las Vegas, ended at 3:05 of the first round with the defeat of the Black Animal by arm triangle choke. Prior to that, Sergei Spivak won two more early victories, finishing with technical knockouts of Greg Hardy and Augusto Sakay.
The Moldovan heavyweight suffered his last defeat in the UFC in September 2021, losing by technical knockout in the first round to Briton Tom Aspinall.
