Petr Yan’s manager, Sayat Abdrakhmanov, commented on rumors that his charge’s fight against Song Yadong could headline a UFC event that will take place on December 9, presumably in China.
“This fight has not been offered to us, at least for the moment,” Abrakhmanov was quoted as saying by the Archangel Michael Club press office. “We are open to offers, including against Yadong, but everything depends on the conditions.”
Three days earlier, the head of the RCC league and the Archangel Michael club, Nikolai Klimenko, announced that the former UFC lightweight champion has no plans to return to the octagon this year, and is currently rehabbing and recovering.
In March of this year, 30-year-old Peter Yan suffered his third straight defeat, losing by unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili, while 25-year-old Song Yadong put his career back on track in April after losing to Corey Sandhagen, finishing Ricky Simon by technical knockout.
Peter Yan and Song Yadong are currently ranked fifth and seventh in the UFC’s lightweight division rankings, respectively.
