Former UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan is ready to consider a fight with Umar Nurmagomedov if his compatriot manages to defeat American Corey Sandhagen in a month.
“It will be an interesting fight – I think that Umar’s fight will still play a role in this fight,” the Russian fighter said at a meeting with journalists in St. Petersburg. “As long as Umar is not in the top 5, I don’t see the point in this fight. If Umar beats Corey, this is a question for the managers. If this fight is interesting to the UFC, then perhaps this fight will take place. ”
Yan also said that he does not plan to replace the injured Henry Cejudo in the fight against Marlon Vera, and expects to return to the octagon at the end of this year.
Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov will headline UFC on ESPN 50 in Nashville on August 5, while Petr Yan suffered his third consecutive loss in March to Merab Dvalishvili by unanimous decision.
