Peter Yan replied to Umar Nurmagomedov

Former UFC lightweight champion Peter Yan has no ill will towards his compatriot Umar Nurmagomedov, who not too long ago announced that he could take an early fight with him in the octagon.

“Yes, I heard, but it doesn’t hurt me,” the Russian fighter said in an interview “Match TV”. “Umar is now doing what he needs to do. He needs to speak. He is speaking.”

“Do you know how old Umar is now? At this time I was already a champion and Umar hasn’t been able to do it yet, so he’s certainly hurt by it”

“Of course, I understand his motivation, his desire to win the title – these are normal common sense thoughts.”

Last week, Umar Nurmagomedov made a successful return to action after more than a year off, defeating organization debutant Bekzat Almakhan by unanimous decision, while Peter Yan, who has been out of the octagon for a year, will fight Song Yadong this weekend at UFC 299 in Miami.

The 28-year-old Nurmagomedov is undefeated, while 31-year-old Peter Yan will attempt to get back into the title race after three consecutive losing performances.
