Peter Yan named the main goal for the next year

Former UFC lightweight champion Peter Yan, who two days earlier announced his readiness to return to the octagon next March, does not yet know who his opponent will be, but is ready to beat anyone the organization puts up against him.

“Yes, I am ready to perform,” the Russian said at an event organized by bookmaker PARI. “There is a negotiation process going on right now – I’m waiting for information and I plan to get to the UFC 299 tournament in March.”

“I can’t influence the choice of opponent. I’m not a champion. When you are the champion, you can still make some adjustments, but while you’re on the road, the UFC protects the people they need.”

“I’d like it to be someone in the top 10, but it’s up to the organization who they nominate. My goal is to regain my position when a fight for the belt is inevitable. So I have to beat any opponent that the organization gives me”

“I know that everyone I’ve lost to, I can beat. Of course, I want to get even with everyone. If it works out in the future, these rematches will also take place. I still want to fight for a couple of years

At the same time, the Russian does not rule out that one day he will have to share the octagon with his compatriot Umar Nurmagomedov, who is currently recovering from shoulder surgery.

“So far there have been no offers to fight Umar. Of course, if there is a need, in the fight for a place in the rankings – this is a sporting moment, and it has a place”

As for Ian’s training camp, the location will depend on where his fight takes place.

“If the fight is going to take place in America, I will most likely go to America to prepare. I will be there for a couple of months. I also want to go to Dagestan – a lot of guys write to me and invite me to train”

Recall that the UFC 299 tournament, the main event of which will be a title fight in the lightweight division between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera, will be held on March 9, however, the location of the event is still unknown.
