Former UFC lightweight champion, Peter Yan, has undergone successful surgery for a torn knee cruciate ligament and meniscus.
The Russian fighter announced this on social network, having published a post-surgery photo on crutches.
“The surgery was successful. Ahead of hard work, rehabilitation,” – wrote Yan in a comment to the photo.
The fighter was operated on by specialists of the multifunctional medical center MEDSI in Moscow.
It is not yet known how long the fighter’s rehabilitation will take, but recovery from such injuries usually takes from nine months to a year.
On March 9 at UFC 299 in Miami, Petr Yan successfully resumed his career after a one-year layoff, winning a three-round unanimous decision over China’s Song Yadong. In doing so, the Russian put his career back on track after three straight losses to Aljamain Sterling, Sean O’Malley and Merab Dvalishvili.
Currently, the Russian fighter continues to rank fourth in the UFC’s lightweight division rankings.
