Pereira made a statement after the defeat in the rematch with Adesanya

Former UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira, who lost the title in a rematch against Israel Adesanya, summed up the fight, which ended with the victory of the Nigerian by knockout in the second round.

“I came to say that everything is fine with me,” the Brazilian wrote on the social network. “I want to thank my family, my team, and all those who support me and enjoy my work. Now I just need to rest before I return and continue with the plan, which, thank the Lord, has already been made.”

At the post-UFC 287 press conference, the head of the organization, Dana White, and Israel Adesanya, suggested that Alex Pereira would leave the middleweight division and move up to light heavyweight.

Recall that in November last year, Pereira took away the UFC championship belt from Adesanya, finishing him by technical knockout in the fifth round, and before that he defeated the Nigerian twice in kickboxing fights.
