Pavlovic is preparing to step in as a substitute in the Jones vs. Miocic fight

Russian UFC heavyweight Sergey Pavlovich will be insuring a heavyweight title fight for the second time this year.

The Russian will prepare for the main event of UFC 295: Jones vs. Miocic as an alternate, his manager, Rizvan Magomedov, announced.

“Sergey will insure the title fight if someone flies off, so anything can still happen,” Magomedov said in an interview Vadim Tikhomirov. “If he doesn’t fight one of them now, he will definitely be the next challenger in the battle for the belt. But there’s still a lot of time until November, we’ll see how things play out”

UFC 295, headlined by a heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, will take place on November 11 at the famed Madison Square Garden Arena in New York City.

In March of this year, the Russian knockout artist officially underwrote the fight between Jon Jones and Cyril Gawn, in which the American won the vacant UFC heavyweight championship belt.

Sergey Pavlovic, 31, is riding a streak of six wins by knockout in the UFC and is ranked No. 1 in the organization’s heavyweight rankings.
