The fight against Robert Whittaker could be Paulo Costa’s last fight under the UFC banner.
The Brazilian announced this to his fans on the social network.
“Just one fight left to be released from UFC contract,” Costa wrote. “So I politely declined when they offered me a six-fight contract. I’m not interested in a long-term agreement”
Earlier in the next edition of the MMA Hour program, the former UFC middleweight title contender explained why he was not satisfied with working with the strongest league in the world.
“I’m not going to lie – I’m looking forward to becoming a free agent,” Costa said. “I’m a top notch fighter, fighting the best in the division, and my contract is out of date. For the fight with Marvin Vettori, I received $35,000. For the previous fight with Luke Rockhold, more came out because I received a bonus for the victory, plus in the fight against Vettori I was deducted 20%. In any case, the current contract does not suit me at all.
Recall that the fight between Robert Whittaker and Paulo Costa will be the third most important event of the UFC 284 tournament, which will be held February 12 in Perth, Australia.
