Paulo Costa made a statement after his loss to Robert Whittaker

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa, who lost to former division champion Robert Whittaker this past weekend at UFC 298 in Anaheim, doesn’t consider himself the loser of the fight.

According to the Brazilian, the apparent damage he did to the Australian was not appreciated by the judges, who gave Whittaker the victory by scores of 30-27 and 29-28 twice.

“Hey b***hs, you guys are awesome – thank you for the support!”, Costa wrote on social media. “During the fight I was sure I was beating him by pressing him and smashing his face in, but the judges thought otherwise. Anyway, I came out of the fight without injury and next time I will press until I finish my opponent. Love you all.”

Recall that at the end of the first round, the Brazilian had a chance to win the fight early, when he seriously shook his opponent with a leg kick from the turn, however, the Australian was saved by the signal for the break.
