Before sharing the Octagon with Khamzat Chimaev, former UFC middleweight title contender Paulo Costa could face former divisional champion Jan Blachowicz at light heavyweight.
According to the Brazilian, the fight could take place on May 6 at the UFC 288 tournament, which recently lost its lightweight contender match between Charles Oliveira and Benil Dariush.
“The UFC 288 numbered tournament is in trouble. Jan Blachowicz vs Costa could be a lifesaver. I’m moving up to light heavyweight. Let me know UFC,” wrote Costa on the social network.
“I’ll be back to fight gourmet chenchen in October, don’t worry,” he added. “These are not just rumors. I got a call from Hunter Campbell, and I think both sides agree. It remains to settle the details. I can still make 185 pounds without a problem, but gourmand chenchen can only fight in October, so it’s ok.”
Jan Blachowicz has not yet commented on this information.
Recall that the fight between Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev, according to rumors, should take place on October 21 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
