Paul Craig promises to catch Khamzat Chimaev in a triangle

Having successfully made his debut in the middle division of the organization at the UFC Fight Night 224 tournament in London, Scottish grappler Paul Craig is confident that in this weight category he can finish on the ground of any opponent, including Khamzat Chimaev.

“Anyone who opposes me, I give myself the opportunity to transfer, and if Khamzat performs a takedown, there is a high probability that he will fall into a triangle from which he will not get out,” the recent light heavyweight said at a press conference after the event.

Since the fight with Chimaev is not even theoretically a short-term prospect, the Scot wants to see the American Bo Nikal, known for his wrestling base, as his next opponent.

“In middleweight, I love the fight with Bo Nikal. Nobody wants to fight him. If he transfers me, he better bypass my guard, because I’m very good at this.

According to Craig, his middleweight debut doesn’t mean he limits himself to one weight class.

“At this point, everyone in the middleweight division has an opportunity and who knows where I will be in the division. Maybe I’ll get into the top 15 and then I’ll try to do the same at heavyweight.”

At the organization’s latest UK event, Paul Craig got his career back on track after two losses in the light heavyweight division, finishing with a second-round TKO against Brazilian middleweight Andre Muniz.
