British fan favorite Paddy Pimblett will not take part in the UFC 286 tournament, which will be held on March 18 in London.
The 28-year-old Liverpool native announced this in a video posted on his Youtube channel. According to the Englishman, he has an operation scheduled for March on his ankle, which he injured in a duel against Jared Gordon last month.
Recall that the lightweight fight between Paddy Pimblett and Jared Gordon, which took place on December 10 at UFC 282 in Las Vegas, went the whole distance and ended in a highly controversial victory for the British by unanimous decision.
Prior to that, Pimblett, who made his debut in the UFC in September 2021, won three early victories in the strongest league in the world, having dealt with all opponents no later than the second round.
Recall that the main event of the UFC 286 tournament will be a welterweight title fight between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman.
