The head of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, claims that preliminary negotiations have begun on a duel between 44-year-old Filipino retiree Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) and 26-year-old Briton Conor Benn (21-0, 14 KOs). Such a fight, if the parties agree, will most likely not take place in Britain, as Conor had his license suspended after he failed a doping test for the banned drug clomiphene twice last October before a fight with Chris Eubank Jr.

The Filipino, apparently, does not care that his potential rival is a doping cheater.

However, nothing new: in 2010, Manny came out against Antonio Margarito, who a year before was taken on a cast in teips on the eve of the fight with Shane Mosley.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Benn fights Pacquiao, but the contract hasn’t been signed yet. There were a few minor discussions,” Eddie Hearn told Boxing King Media.

So far, Conor is sanctioned in Britain, but there is a chance that he and the team will smear themselves with eggs and be acquitted. But earlier it was rumored that Benn faces a 4-year suspension.

Conor hasn’t competed since he destroyed Chris Van Heerden last April.
