The coach of the WBC world middleweight champion (up to 72.6 kg) American Jermall Charlo (32-0, 22 KOs) Ronnie Shields hopes that Kazakhstani Gennady Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs), who in the same category belongs to the WBA Super and IBF titles, after the upcoming trilogy with Canelo Alvarez will agree to a unification fight with his ward.

Recall that for the third fight against Alvarez, which will take place next night in Las Vegas, Golovkin lifts a weight higher – 76.2 kg.

“If Golovkin beats Alvarez, and even if he loses, he will still have two championship belts. Maybe after that Golovkin will fight Jermall because my boyfriend wants to unify the titles. Hopefully it can happen,” Shields said.

At the same time, the coach does not blame Canelo, who at the beginning of this year could have chosen the option of fighting Charlo, but instead went the other way:

“They just weren’t sure it would be a good move for Canelo. So instead they chose Bivol and Golovkin. Bivol lost in the end, and now they will fight Golovkin again. No problem, business is business. I think you should do what’s best for you.”

Recently, promoter Eddie Hearn lashed out at the American champions hard because of Canelo.
