Armory, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. In the second event of the evening, the WBA World super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Cuban David Morrel (7-0, 6 KOs) scored an unknown American Calvin Henderson (15-2-1, 11 KOs) to the go-ahead of the referee.

Left-handed champion Morrel immediately lashed out at challenger Henderson, pinning him in the corner of the ring, bombing with multi-hit combos, investing in all of his thrown punches. At first, he only sat behind the block, then began to answer. The applicant has a cut near his left eye.

The champion began the 2nd three-minute period slowly: he jabbed and moved. Then he attacked his opponent again, pinned him in a corner, beat him with body blows and uppercuts. Henderson would not survive such a bombardment for long.

In the 3rd three-minute period, everything was calmer, but Morrel’s final assault almost ended in an early victory: for 30 seconds he kneaded the opponent in the corner. The referee was close to intervening and stopping the fight, and after the gong demanded that the challenger “show at least something.”

30 seconds before the end of the 4th round, the third in the ring stopped the fight. Everything is fair – it was a brutal one-sided beating and a good candidate for the title of “mismatch of the year”.

Morrel TKO 4.
