Now official: WBO cruiserweight world champion (up to 90.7 kg) Lawrence Okoli (18-0, 14 KOs) will still fight with the mandatory challenger David Light (20-0, 12 KOs). This will happen, however, not on March 11 in London, as previously reported by the media, but on March 25 in Manchester (England).

Recall that Okoli quarreled with Eddie Hearn and, slamming the door, left his Matchroom Boxing. He hasn’t been in the ring since last February when he defeated Michal Ceslak.

Lawrence now performs under the auspices of Ben Sholom’s Boxxer office. He has already promised to “make it easy” for the New Zealander.

Shalom added: “The Biggest division is arguably the most exciting weight class in the sport right now and is full of homegrown stars who are itching to be crowned.

Riakpore: “Gulamiryan, Okoli, Opetaya, Makabu! I will come for you”

“Lawrence sits on top of that mountain – and he plans to keep that position when he takes on a very dangerous opponent in Light,” said the promoter.

31-year-old David, who is still under the radar of the world media in his career, at the beginning of this winter in the eliminator, strained, with a knockdown, passed in the mahach of American prospect Brandon Glanton (SD 10).

Okole, meanwhile, is ready to release the demon.
