Official: Alimkhanuly vs Mungia fight appointed by WBO

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has appointed a fight between its world middleweight champion (up to 72.6 kg) Zhanibek Alimkhanuly (13-0, 8 KOs) from Kazakhstan and Jaime Mungiu (41-0, 33 KOs) from Mexican ex-champion in the category below .

The WBO President Francisco Valcarcel announced the decision made the day before at the end of October – before Alimkhanuly defended on November 12 against Briton Denzel Bentley, winning on points, and a week later Munguia routinely knocked out Argentine Gonzalo Coria.

Now it’s official.

“We bring to your attention that the WBO Championship Committee directs the parties to start negotiations on the aforementioned fight between Jaime Mungia and Zhanibek Alimkhanuly. The parties are given 15 days to reach an agreement, ”says the letter that the organization sent to representatives of the boxers.

Last week Alimkhanuly addressed the champions. The challenge is accepted, but the fight is unlikely to take place.

Munguia, meanwhile, challenged another champion from Kazakhstan – WBA / IBF title holder Gennady Golovkin.
