Nurmagomedov responded to Topuria’s outbursts

Reigning Bellator lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov addressed current UFC featherweight titleholder Elijah Topuria, who after defeating Alex Volkanovski managed to make several provocative statements about Islam Makhachev and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

“For every matador there is a bull,” the Russian wrote on social media, noting the Spanish-Georgian fighter and posting a photo of a bull putting the matador’s soft spot on his horn. “Umar doesn’t have to move up in weight. He has a little brother who will rip your ass up.”

On February 17 at UFC 298 in Anaheim, Elijah Topuria knocked out Alex Volkanovski in the second round, taking the championship belt from the Australian, after which he named Islam Makhachev as his next big target and also expressed confidence that he could beat undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov.

As for Usman Nurmagomedov, he is rumored to be scheduled to face his compatriot Alexander Shabliy on May 17 at the Bellator tournament in Paris, however, representatives of the organization have yet to confirm this information.

Nurmagomedov’s brother, Umar Nurmagomedov, who competes in the UFC’s lightweight division, will return to the octagon this weekend at UFC Fight Night 238 in Las Vegas to face Kazakhstan’s Bekzat Almakhan, the organization’s debutant.
