Nurmagomedov assessed Topuria’s chances in the fight with Makhachev

Russian UFC lightweight division fighter Umar Nurmagomedov, who returns to the octagon this weekend, shared his opinion on the words of current UFC featherweight champion Elijah Topuria, who promised to take the lightweight title away from his friend and teammate Islam Makhachev.

“I wouldn’t say he has a chance against Islam,” Nurmagomedov said in an interview with the channel “Ushataika”. “I’ve seen him – he’s small will be a lightweight. He’s almost my height, maybe a little bit taller, and I don’t see any chance at all for him with Islam and Khabib. The man just knows how to PR himself.”

The Russian believes that the Spanish-Georgian fighter should fight undefeated Movsar Evloyev, who is ranked fifth in the UFC’s welterweight rankings.

“Why does he need Islam? I mean, there’s Movsar, who is going on a winning streak and is also an undefeated fighter. That would be a good fight. Of course I’d be rooting for my brother Movsar, but I can’t say he’s guaranteed to get past Topuria. Two ambitious fighters, two rocks. Topuria has a heavy jab, but Movsar fights well, and after the fight the jab gets weaker. I would like to see this fight”

Recall that on March 2, Umar Nurmagomedov will perform at UFC Fight Night 238 in Las Vegas, and his opponent will be the debutant of the organization Bekzat Almakhan, representing Kazakhstan.
