Card debt is a matter of honor.

American top lightweight contender Ryan Garcia (22-0, 18 KOs) gave 20 thousand USD to the unified welterweight champion compatriot Errol Spence (28-0, 22 KOs).

May 28 in Brooklyn (New York, USA) Garcia and Spence met in the arena Barclays Center during the show Gervonta Davis vs Rolando Romero. Ryan offered Errol a $20,000 bet. The challenger bet on the underdog, but did not guess – the champion Davis knocked out Romero in the 6th round.

“When I said that I bet on Romero, they looked at me like I was stoned,” Garcia smiles. “To be honest, I was ready to bet that Rolly would knock him out in 2 rounds.”

After the fight, Spence posted a video of the bet and left a message for Ryan: “Looks like this shit is over for your dude.”

Garcia promised to pay back the next day and even asked Spence to send him the information he needed to do so.

The next day, Spence confirmed that Garcia had paid him off:

The other day in an interview
SI
Ryan talked about his popularity and critics. The fighter believes that it is not at all the level of opposition and the lack of title fights: “You know, I often have to deal with outright disrespect. Why is this happening? Honestly? I think that all this is only for the reason that I am a handsome man. I think I’m just jealous. Maybe it’s a little arrogant of me, but fuck it, that’s the way it is. I am handsome. And this kapets really infuriates some people … “

At the end of May, Ryan Garcia chose an opponent. Doesn’t smell like megafight. Immediately after that, he slightly hastily announced a fight with Davis – before the end of the year.
