Instead of a hastily published rematch with compatriot Stephen Fulton (21-0, 8 KOs), American ex-bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa (23-1-1, 18 KOs) seems to be fighting with ex-WBC featherweight champion (up to 57 .2 kg) Filipino Mark Magsio 24-1, 16 KOs).

This is reported by columnist Salvador Rodriguez. He even announced the preliminary date of the fight – March 4th. The venue of the duel of the most, perhaps, the brightest grunt in 57.2 kg is still in question.

The fact that the fight Fulton vs Figueroa 2 will not take place was previously announced by Jake Donovan.

Former WBO champion in the minimum weight (up to 47.6 kg) Puerto Rican Wilfredo Mendez (18-2, 6 KOs) will not take part in the organization’s eliminator with top prospect compatriot Oscar Collaso (5-0, 3 KOs) – he injured his back.

However, scheduled for January 28 at the arena Youtube Theater in Inglewood (California, USA), the WBO qualifying fight will still take place – “mini-Lomachenko” Collaso will fight with the Mexican Yudel Reyes (15-1, 5 KOs).

The winner will have the right to challenge the full-fledged title, which changed its owner in January – Filipino Melvin Yerusalem knocked out Japanese Masataka Taniguchi on the road.
