British heavyweight Anthony Joshua will make a mistake if he decides to take on Roy Jones as head coach, says compatriot of the former world champion, expert Adam Catterall. He stated this in a comment.
talkSPORT.

The American boxing legend recently claimed to have been talking to AJ about what needs to be improved in his training to get better. According to Jones, it appeared that they had almost agreed on cooperation there.

Catterall believes that such specialists as Virgil Hunter or Eddie Reynoso are much better suited to the heavyweight style and can really help the Londoner improve his boxing.

“To be honest, I’m not sure about the Jones-Joshua tandem. This isn’t disrespectful to Roy, he’s a great coach and does some pretty good things for Chris Eubank Jr. [как тренер]. It’s just that Roy’s style is suitable for working with Chris, as he likes to sit out in the ring and work with single blows, ”he explained.

  • It’s not Usyk who beat Joshua – Dillian Whyte’s opinion

According to the analyst, Anthony is “the kind of person who goes forward, throws combinations and knocks out the enemy with sheer brutal power.”

“I think there are some better options in the United States that have previously specialized and worked with the big heavyweights. I like Hunter or Reynoso. I would like him to go to America, work there and come back home as “Anthony Joshua 2.0”. I hope this will be the case in early 2023,” Catterall concluded.

Joshua fired his longtime mentor Rob McCracken ahead of a rematch with Usyk, to which he was brought out by Robert Garcia. Judging by the words of Anthony, he will also part with the latter.

Or maybe it’s not the coach? Here Dillian Whyte is sure that Joshua is “weird. Now a good boy, then a gangsta. Spineless. Become either a rapper or a priest.”
