Former undefeated Scotsman Josh Taylor (19-0, 13 KOs) in May or June may fight former unified lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (18-1, 13 KOs) of the American lightweight division.

The promotional company Top Rank became aware of such plans
ESPN from unnamed sources.

There is no talk of finalizing the deal yet, but it is separately emphasized that the fight has no significant obstacles.

If the parties still shake hands, the fight will take place in the super lightweight limit (up to 63.5 kg), most likely in the UK.

Recall that since last year, Taylor’s agenda at the first number was a rematch with the Englishman Jack Catterall, whom he controversially defeated on points in February 2022. However, the fight was repeatedly postponed – most recently since March 4 due to Josh’s injury.

As a result, it recently became known that Catterall will return to the ring on March 25 against an as yet unannounced opponent.

And he reacted to the news about the negotiations between Taylor and Lopez … with ducks, hinting that Josh was simply afraid to cross paths with him again.

Lopez made his 63.5kg debut last August by stopping Pedro Campa. In December, he spent his second fight in the division, not without difficulty coping with Sandor Martin on points.

At the end of January, it became known that Lopez refused to fight with Prograis because of money and his wife.
