December 10 at the arena Hulu Theater (small scene Madison Square Garden Sports Complex) in New York (USA), ex-absolute lightweight champion American Teofimo Lopez (17-1, 13 KOs) will meet with Puerto Rican Jose Pedraza (29-4-1, 14 KOs), who conquered two weight divisions, reports
insider. The fight will take place in the super light weight limit.

In 2020, Lopez sensationally beat Ukrainian unified world champion Vasily Lomachenko in unification and became an absolute at 61.2 kg. In the opening defense, he lost no less sensationally to the Australian George Kambosos. In August of this year, the ex-champion made his debut in the light welterweight division with a victory over Mexican gatekeeper Pedro Campa.

Interestingly, Pedraza also previously crossed paths with Lomachenko – in 2018 he lost to the Ukrainian in lightweight unification. Previously, from 2015 to 2017, the Puerto Rican was the IBF 59 kg champion.

Since 2019, Pedraza has been competing in the light welterweight division. He has victories over Mikkel Lespierre, Javier Molina and Julian Rodriguez. On the liability side are competitive defeats to the division tops Jose Cepede and Jose Ramirez. In August, Pedraza tied with ex-world champion Richard Commey of Ghana.

At the beginning of the month, the former division champion said that Teofimo Lopez would not succeed at the new weight. But Kambosos is pleased with the comeback of the ex-opponent: “I am proud of him, but we will meet in a rematch.”
