Named favorite in the rematch of Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje

Despite winning the first fight, Dustin Poirier is not the favorite in a potential rematch with Justin Gaethje, which the American fighters have announced their intention to hold in recent interviews.

At the moment, the odds for Gaethje to win are 1.8 (probability 55.56%), while Poirier’s success is estimated at 2.05 (probability 48.78%).

Two weeks ago at UFC 286 in London, Justin Gaethje got his career back on track with a majority win over Rafael Fiziev. Thus, Highlight closed an unsuccessful attempt to take away the UFC lightweight championship belt from Charles Oliveira, whom he lost to in May last year by rear naked choke in the first round.

Dustin Poirier last entered the octagon last November, finishing with a rear naked choke in the third round of Michael Chandler. Prior to that, the Diamond lost ahead of schedule to Oliveira, and also finished Conor McGregor twice.

The first duel between the American lightweights took place in April 2018 and ended with Poirier’s victory by technical knockout in the fourth round.

Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje currently sit second and third in the UFC lightweight rankings, respectively.
