Muhammad Mokaev: “I’d rather end my career than give up!”

Muhammad Mokaev:

Undefeated UFC flyweight fighter Muhammad Mokaev, who defeated Brazilian Jafel Filho ahead of schedule last weekend, explained why he refused to signal the surrender after falling on a knee lever in the third round.

“I was wondering what he would do if I didn’t knock,” Mokaev wrote on the social network. “The pain was insane, especially since he also had a metal groin guard. Respect to Jafel Filho!”

“Saw a few messages like, ‘You didn’t tap, but you might have risked retirement!’ I would rather end my career than give up. Right now it hurts me insanely, but if I knocked, my heart would hurt even more.

Mokaev also published a photo of a swollen knee, saying that he was going to do an MRI in the near future.

“Tomorrow morning I will have an MRI. I hope all be fine. Now I can’t walk, but I’m still very pleased with my performance.”

Recall that the fight between Muhammad Mokaev and Zhafel Filho, which opened the preliminary card of the UFC 286 tournament in London, ended with the defeat of the Brazilian with a broken neck at around 4:32 of the third round.
