IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (19-0, 13 KOs) is so cool primarily because of his mobility and awkward southpaw style. So says the Irish avenue
Thomas Carty (3-0, 2 KOs), who sparred for Anthony Joshua and was also in Derek Chisora’s camp when he trained for Usyk.
Usyk-Joshua revenge will take place soon – on August 20.
Thomas was Anthony’s sparring partner before the first fight with Usyk. Not that he helped Joshua in any way, judging by the outcome of the meeting. “What struck me about Joshua is how much and how hard he trains,” Carty says. Sky Sports.
He added that he understands what makes Usyk such a formidable fighter.
Usyk didn’t fight the real Joshua – British expert
“It’s how mobile he is. His legs are really very good. He has some of the best basic boxing skills in my opinion,” Carty said. “You don’t see that often at the elite heavyweight level. The examples are very few. In addition, with the left-hander, everything is not the same as usual. If there are a hundred guys in the hall, less than 5% will be left-handed.”
Prospect recalled how he watched Usyk fight against Tony Bellew, how he delivered a jab with left hooks, and then reproduced the Ukrainian’s technique in sparring: “And some guys put spats right in the ring. It works. Proven.”

The Irishman says about himself – “Usyk-version for Poundland”. This is a retailer, a British chain of retail stores with most items priced at £1.
According to him, since the beginning of his amateur career, he wanted to box like Usyk: “I am mobile for a big guy. I guess I developed a kind of nimble, powerful left-handed punching style. If I can imitate Usyk even by one percent, I will be fine.”
Do you know the “final” forecast from Hearn? Here it is: Joshua knocks out Usyk.
