Moreno will be insuring the title fight between Pantoja and Royval

Former UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno will insure the title fight between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval, which takes place Dec. 16 at UFC 296 in Las Vegas.

This was reported by informed sources close to the situation.

Brandon Moreno, 29, lost his championship belt in July of this year, losing by split decision to Alesandre Pantoja on a five-round decision, and the Mexican is scheduled to fight Amir Albazi on February 24, which will take place if the former UFC champion does not have to step in as a replacement.

As a reminder, the Pantoja vs. Royval fight will be the second main event of the number show, and the event will be headlined by a welterweight title clash between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington.
