Mokaev reacted to Pantoja and Erceg’s title fight

No. 7 ranked UFC flyweight Muhammad Mokaev, who had planned to share the octagon with the division’s reigning champion in his next fight, was equally surprised by the organization of the title fight between Alexandre Pantoja and Steve Erceg, which will headline UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro on May 4.

The 23-year-old British fighter shared his bewilderment over the matter on social media.

“What did they just do in the UFC? I have the second greatest active winning streak in flyweight history! I’m going to take that belt soon!”

“Give me Royval in Manchester, I’ll blow him away! You want to see the finish? Give me that fight, I’ll finish him!”

“I’ve never picked opponents, never dropped out of fights, even when I was unhealthy. Never failed a weigh-in. I’m going to be a champion! Thank you UFC – you’ve motivated me a lot.”

“I have more early endings than Erceg fights in the UFC. Just the facts.”

“Come to Manchester, Royval! You’re free now, and I’m free too. Let’s fight!”

“Don’t get me wrong – I have no hate for Pantoja and Erceg. They’re two top fighters who are just doing their jobs, and they don’t schedule fights as far as I know. I just want to fight the best in the world and test myself. That’s why I’m in the UFC and I’ve already beaten two former title challengers.”

Undefeated Muhammad Mokaev picked up his sixth UFC victory two weeks ago, winning a three-round unanimous decision over American Alex Perez.
