In 1991, the ex-absolute heavyweight champion American Mike Tyson was sentenced to 6 years in prison – he was convicted of raping 18-year-old Desiree Washington (the winner of the Black Miss Rhode Island contest). The boxer spent 3 years in prison.

Tyson unexpectedly described the timespent behind bars: “I’m quite a normal dude, such a normal person. Got along well with everyone there. Those three years that I spent in prison are the best time of my life. And I’m very grateful for them.”

According to the ex-millionaire, he didn’t even worry about money there: “I didn’t have money there, but there was something more important and valuable – peace and quiet. Money does not please when you have no balance inside, no peace. You need sanity and calmness to control your life. No other way”.

According to the champion, he lost a lot of weight: “How did you train? I ran. Every day I ran 13-15 km around, and at night for another 4 hours I wound circles around my camera. Also jumps and push-ups. When I got there, I weighed 129 kg. And he came out with a weight of 97.5 kg.

In 1995, the long-awaited return of Tyson to the ring took place – he beat a certain
Peter McNeely. The legendary veteran recalls: “How did I feel after that victory? Then it flashed through my head: “Bastards, here I am, back from prison! You can’t fucking break me!” It’s all ego. It just went crazy, because everyone had already written me off. Everyone repeated that I would not return the same. I just wanted them all to eat their words…”

Last week, Tyson admitted that “in the fight against Roy Jones, he was under mushrooms and grass.” A little earlier, he supported Ukraine, which heroically opposes Russian military aggression: “Ukrainians, I am with you.”
