Despite Dana White’s words that Conor McGregor may not return to the octagon at all, former Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler, who has been inactive for fifteen months, remains convinced that his fight with the Irishman will happen.
“No one has ever waited for a fight as long as I have,” said the American on another edition of The MMA Hour program. “I was ready to fight right after The Ultimate Fighter season came out, but I’m also aware that a vacation is a good thing.”
“I spent time with my family and took care of business, which went without me while I fought in the cage for a check. Conor, meanwhile, went about his business and is now promoting the movie Roadhouse”
“We’re not going to get off this train. I have too many guarantees that this fight is going to happen to think otherwise.”
Michael Chandler, 37, had his last fight in November 2022, losing by rear-naked choke in the third round to Dustin Puryear, but continues to rank fifth in the UFC’s lightweight rankings.
