Two-weight title holder Mexican Ray Vargas (36-0, 22 KOs), who is going to conquer the third category, will wait with it for the time being and make the first defense of the WBC belt in the featherweight division (up to 57.2 kg).

The opponent is a compatriot who received a US passport, Miguel Flores (25-4-1, 12 KOs).

Vargas was the WBC super bantamweight champion from 2017 to 2019, but lost the belt without a fight – due to an injury (a broken leg) and suffering from covid, he did not enter the ring for almost 30 months. At the end of 2021, he reworked the journeyman, and this summer, Mark Magsio went through hard.

As for Flores, he has only won four of his last eight fights. He has no resounding victories, but the style is what you need to make February 11 in the arena Alamodome in San Antonio (USA), the audience saw a bright duel.

Three years ago, Miguel tried to take the WBA super flyweight belt from Leo Santa Cruz, but lost by decision. In September 2022, he boxed to a draw with veteran Abner Mares.

The warm-up will be a fight in which the owner of the IBF belt will be determined: Jeremias Ponce (30-0, 20 KOs) from Argentina and Puerto Rican Subriel Matias (18-1, 18 KOs) will fight.
