The first number of the UFC lightest division, Merab Dvalishvili, who promised to undergo surgery if the organization insists on his duel with Umar Nurmagomedov, successfully operated on his right hand the day before.
“Operation was successfully completed. I will be back as soon as possible. Thanks to Giga Chikadze for being with me,” the Georgian fighter wrote on the social network, posting a photo from the hospital ward.
A few days earlier, Dvalishvili announced that he would postpone the operation if he gets Cory Sandhagen or Henry Cejudo as rivals.
Sandhagen will reportedly face Nurmagomedov next, according to numerous sources close to the situation, including teammate and friend of the Russian, Islam Makhachev.
Merab Dvalishvili, 32, picked up his ninth straight win in March with a unanimous decision over former division champion Petr Yan.
