Merab Dvalishvili has been named the official UFC title challenger

With a win over Henry Cejudo, UFC lightweight division No. 2 Merab Dvalishvili has secured a fight with the winner of the title fight between Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera, which takes place in three weeks.

This was announced by the head of the world’s strongest league, Dana White, at the press conference after the UFC 298 tournament.

“Yes, he will face the winner of the fight between O’Malley and Cheeto,” said the head of the organization. “Merab looked good tonight. As for Henry, you can’t take a three-year break in fighting – it hasn’t done anyone any good yet. He wasn’t bad in the first round, but he started to tire in the second round, while Merab just started to gain momentum”

The flyweight bout between Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo went the full distance and ended with the Georgian fighter winning a 29-28 three-round unanimous decision, and Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera will headline UFC 299 in Miami on March 9.
