Former two-weight UFC champion Conor McGregor, who has repeatedly insulted Islam Makhachev in the past, made an unexpected comment about his fight against Alexander Volkanovski, in which the Russian successfully defended the UFC lightweight championship belt.
“It was a great fight – there were no losers, only winners!”, – wrote the Irishman in a social network. “And I fucking loved how the Australians showed themselves! Perth looked extremely attractive, and now I understand why there are so many Irish people there. I also needed to be there, because my two former titles were at stake. Congratulations to everyone in the UFC!”
The lightweight title superfight between Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski, who headlined UFC 284 in Perth, went all the way to win the Russian via unanimous decision, 49-46 and 48-47 twice.
A few days before the fight, Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler were appointed coaches of the next season of TUF, and UFC President Dana White did not rule out that the Irishman could get a title shot if he wins the coaching fight, which will be held at lightweight.
