Contender for the vacant UFC flyweight championship belt, Mayra Bueno Silva, has responded to former division champion, Julianna Peña, who called the Brazilian a cheater and her fight against Raquel Pennington an interim title fight.
“Look, this girl thinks she’s a champion, but she’s not,” MMA Fighting quoted the Brazilian as saying. “Can someone tell her that she lost her previous fight to Amanda Nunes? And when she got the opportunity to get a rematch, she ran away from Amanda. Now she’s running away again. Julianna just talks crap, even though she’s a mediocre fighter herself, and runs from every opportunity. She’s just a noisy chicken.”
“I’m going to finish Raquel, take that belt, and then I’m going to show Julianna who’s the cheater. I’m not even sure she’ll want to fight. Right now my focus is on Raquel, but when I finish Julianna, there will be no doubt in anyone’s mind that I am the undisputed champion of the division.”
The fight between Mayra Bueno Silva and Raquel Pennington will take place on January 20 at UFC 297 in Toronto, and Julianna Peña, who is recovering from an injury, expects to challenge the winner of the fight.
