Mayra Bueno Silva challenges Julianne Peña, ex-UFC champion responds

With a stoppage victory over Holly Holm, Brazil’s Mayra Bueno Silva is confident she has done enough to beat Raquel Pennington in the title race and challenge Julianne Peña for the vacant UFC bantamweight title vacated by the retired Amanda Nunes.

“Raquel had the chance to fight me, but she didn’t want to – if so, Julianne and I should do it,” Bueno Silva said at a press conference after UFC on ESPN 49. “Julianna deserves it, I deserve it – Go UFC!

The former UFC champion did not disregard the challenge thrown to her.

“I heard someone say the name of the national champion? Amazing. Get in line. I’ll deal with you and Raquel in one evening. Who else wants to be beaten?” Peña wrote on the social network after the Brazilian challenged her in the octagon.

The reporters present at the press conference conveyed to Bueno Silva the American woman’s message.

“She’s funny,” the Brazilian replied. “I like you, Julianne, but I’m going to blow you. You and Raquel at the same time. Look at my fight, and look at her fight. So you better shut up, Julianne.”

Recall that the women’s fight in the bantamweight division between Holly Holm and Mayra Bueno Silva, who headed the event held in Las Vegas, ended at 0:38 of the second round with the victory of the Brazilian by guillotine choke.
