Max Holloway is ready to shock the world in a fight with Justin Gaethje

Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway plans to not only take the BMF title from Justin Gaethje in his next fight, but also strip his compatriot of his challenger status in the lightweight division.

“Since at that point there was talk of a fight between Islam and Oliveira, it looked like Justin Gaethje needed a dance partner, so I threw my name in the hat,” MMAJunkie quoted the American as saying. “The BMF title is great, and besides, it’s only ten pounds from welterweight, so why not? I can compete in both weight classes.”

“I think this fight opens a lot of doors, a lot of opportunities. We’ll see what happens. First we have to beat the man that’s going to come out against me, and that’s a dangerous guy Justin Gaethje. Then we’ll see how the card falls. A lot of options could open up after this fight. That’s what I’m focused on. I have to shock the world.”

As a reminder, the lightweight bout between Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway will be part of the UFC 300 anniversary event, which takes place April 13 in Las Vegas.
