Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier to headline UFC on ESPN 46

Former UFC middleweight title contenders Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier will headline the main event of UFC on ESPN 46 on June 17 in Las Vegas.

The fight was officially announced by representatives of the UFC. The event was originally scheduled to be hosted by Josh Emmett and Iliya Topuria, however, the featherweight bout was rescheduled for a week and became the main event of UFC on ABC 5, which will take place on June 24 in Jacksonville.

For the past two years, 29-year-old Italian Marvin Vettori has been alternating victories with defeats, in the last fight he won by unanimous decision against Roman Dolidze.

Jared Cannonier, 39, also got his career back on track in the previous match with a split decision win over Sean Strickland. Thus, the American closed the defeat in the title confrontation with Israel Adesanya, to whom he lost by unanimous decision after five rounds.

Marvin Vettori and Jared Cannonier currently sit third and fourth in the UFC middleweight rankings, respectively.
