The current UFC lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev, believes that his recent opponent, Alexander Volkanovski, as well as the Australian teammate, Dan Hooker, who accused him of violating anti-doping rules without evidence, should be held accountable for their actions.
“You must be held responsible for such accusations,” the Russian fighter wrote on the social network.
A few days earlier, Hooker and Volkanovski announced that after the official weigh-in procedure, Makhachev violated UFC anti-doping rules by using saline drips for recovery, the use of which has been strictly limited since 2015.
In response, the Russian team called these accusations nonsense, and the coach of the Australian club, Eugene Bairman, although he stated that their information was reliable, admitted that they did not have hard evidence.
Recall that last weekend at UFC 284 in Perth, Islam Makhachev successfully defended the UFC lightweight championship belt, defeating Alexander Volkanovski by unanimous decision in five rounds. After the fight, the Australian expressed disagreement with the result, demanding an immediate revenge.
